Instructions for Re-Installing the CD-ROM Drivers for the Panasonic CF-61
Laptop. This file/DISK is required for the installation of Win98 or to
reinstall Win95.
If you want
to reload Win95 or Win98 you can get the CD-ROM boot disk and drivers from: HERE
This file is larger than a floppy, so you must download it to the machine you
are now using to access the Internet and then create your bootable floppy disk
from there.
Download this file to your hard drive, after it has downloaded then double click
on it and it will go to a DOS prompt and will expand it to the A: floppy drive
( if it asks where to expand the image to just type A ). Then boot your Laptop
with that floppy, it will boot and load the CD-ROM drivers so you can access the
CD-ROM. Then if you type GO ( at the A: prompt after you have booted with the
floppy ) it will run a batch file on the floppy disk that will install the
CD-ROM drivers to the hard drive. But it will erase existing Autoexec.bat and
Config.sys and replace them.
If you choose to reinstall win9x, my suggested way would be to boot the
laptop and then go to Shutdown and restart in DOS MODE. At the DOS prompt type
FORMAT C:/S and after that is done then reboot with the floppy you made
and then type GO at the A: prompt. Then reboot the laptop without the floppy
being in the A: drive, then you'll be able to access the CD-ROM and install from
your cd any operating system you choose. The CD-ROM will be drive L:
If you do not need CD-ROM support under DOS mode, and only require it while you are in Windows ( an example would be if you do not play DOS based games on the laptop ) . Then you do not have to type GO, you can just insert your Win9x CD-ROM in the drive and run the setup program from there.
